MELT is Back In Town!

 Check Your Alignment-Introducing MELT Performance!

Hello MELT Family,

I kept busy while I was away and I have been continuing my education of all things MELT. I am currently working through my fourth course and am still completely in love with this elegant system of profound self care.

Upon returning home, I needed to buy a new set of tires.  The tech balanced the tires and looked at my car’s alignment to see if it might have influenced the wear on my tires.  This got me thinking.  The latest addition to my quiver is the ability to help people get out of compensatory (read inefficient and painful!!!) habitual movement patterns.  These movement patterns often affect our joints and our alignment leading to all sorts of disfunction.  The good news is that it really isn’t that hard to balance the tires and correct the alignment. The result is way better PERFORMANCE for the vehicle!

MELT performance consists of the same great techniques that we have been learning all along to calm our nervous system and help our tissues to stay globally hydrated.  It adds in a powerful component of “neuromuscular re-education.”  In MELT it is called “NeuroStrength.”  These gentle exercises are incredibly powerful at re- aligning the body and teaching it to move optimally and with greater ease and less pain and stiffness- hooray! The secret is in harnessing the power of hydration to improve nerve signalling.  It really doesn’t take endless repetitions of strength training – it just takes some focused attention- a bit of finickity positioning and great tissue hydration to help the bodies’ nervous system to balance itself out and get the proper inputs to the bodies’ movers….

Many of these exercises may look familiar and may be done as part of “Rehab” after an injury occurs due to imbalance. However, we believe that these types of shoulder, Neurocore, and hip stabilization exercises are even better used to PREVENT injury and to maximize PERFORMANCE.

This Sunday we will begin to weave in some great NeuroStrength techniques for our deep core stabilization muscles and a magical shoulder stabilization exercise that has been my go-to for over a year(definitely magic).  I hope you can join us! It really is cool😊

For some inspiration to get you in the door – check out this phenomenal article in the New York Times detailing the merging of Eastern and Western medicine, understanding “Chi’ from a modern scientific lens,  and the groundbreaking discovery of a third circulatory system in the human body… ( the only other two were discovered in the 17th century so this is big news!!!)
